The Great Toilet Paper Crisis of 2020

What a time to be alive. This has been the craziest hasn’t it?? I work in the financial industry and let me tell you, it has been an adventure. We are inundated with calls this week as you can imagine. What’s funny is everyone thought January felt like the longest month ever and then along comes March like, just kidding!

I had a surgery this week and it was cancelled. That was fun to call and let everyone know about; work, school, my husband, my mom, my friends. No estimated date of when it may even be rescheduled. I’m still trying to get my homework done between all this but I’m honestly so exhausted.

Then as I’m sure many of you all are also experiencing,  the store shelves are practically empty or actually empty. We literally cannot find toilet paper anywhere. Even online. We ordered flushable wipes on Amazon and dog food just to be safe. It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic. People can’t find formula and diapers for their children. It’s ridiculous and sad.

I want to make some light of the situation and say something to put everyone at ease but nothing really comes to mind. We all need to just use our brains at this point honestly. Remember there are other people besides ourselves, and they have families too. They need food and things to survive as well. We need to wash our hands and be cautious, which we should be doing all the time anyway. We need to stay close to our friends and families. Pray a little more. Love a little more.

If you’re quarantined with your children or family, play some board games or cards, even charades, have a movie night, color or make something fun. If you have a backyard, utilize it, weather permitting. Take the time to slow down a bit. Don’t take anything for granted.

Especially not toilet paper.
