Sand

You are the echo of my heartbeat in this rib cage
Never able to escape you
Your eyes haunt me in my dreams
Blue like the ocean we stood in
When you kissed me the last time I saw you
If only we knew it was our last moment
What more we could’ve done
As I held you like sand in my hands
