Things not to say to a Bipolar person:

Or anyone with a mental disorder in general…

  1. It’s all in your head
  2. you have nothing to be sad about
  3. calm down!
  4. just think positive
  5. have you tried meditation?
  6. You should change your diet
  7. All those medications can’t be good for you, have you tried the natural route
  8. Anxiety/depression/bipolar etc. isn’t real
  9. You just have to change your way of thinking
  10. you’re too smart/pretty/successful/etc. to be depressed
  11. I don’t believe in all that stuff
  12. Therapy is for people who are weak
  13. Stop acting crazy/insane/nuts
  14. Just cheer up.
