Lately, I’ve been thinking about myself, and people I know that struggle with mental illness and instead of thinking about what they hate about themselves, I’ve been thinking about what makes them each individually amazing because of their mental health issues. Traits they wouldn’t otherwise have if they didn’t struggle with what they struggled with.
One friend I have is hyper-focused, disciplined, has such a strong work ethic. Her anxiety can be crippling to her, she gets paranoid about a lot of things and stressed easy, but she excels at school and work like no one else I’ve ever met.
Another friend is extremely creative, can make anything she puts her mind too. It just flows from her so easily. She feels super depressed often and has to fight to live her daily life but when she creates it’s magic.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that we are all magic in one way or another. Regardless of what we battle in our minds everyday, we are so strong and unique in so many other ways. Next time you feel like you can’t keep it together try and think about what makes you different in the best ways and not the worst. All the love.
