Bloodlines

We are from the same blood you know? I am your biology
Composed of your DNA
I wish I could look into your eyes that are like mine
and mark bloodlines under them
Across your cheeks with my thumbs
Like an ancient warrior
We are salt and sea
Winds and castles
German and Irish descent
Did you forget that I am your family?
You helped to create me
How quickly you turned away
From your history
Your future and your past lies with me
Now you have no legacy, no heir
I have stripped myself of your name and created a new identity
Though I cannot escape my blood
I escaped you
But you will never escape my memory
I will whisper in your blood forever
Someday a loss will fill you
That will make even your teeth ache with it
And I will remain strong in your chemistry
But you will just be a whisper in mine.
